Endless Summer - Costa Rica

Travel in general

Traveling Costa Rica is a great adventure, no matter, how. Pros and Cons you face here are of cause different to other places in the world. Being stuck in the middle of Europe in a train station at a winter night or waiting half your life for the next plane - is a pain. Not here: Public transfer works in time. WTF! But a river crossing your road or holes in the pavement big as a bath tub might one of the challenges in this quite young country. Motorways and bridges just have not had the time to be built, but they will. Enjoy to go without, while you still can. Getting to most of the touristic highlights is possible with a regular car. But if you like to experience the wild, like tracks through the bush or drive on the beach, cross a river and not having to go around - or just for the fun of it, choose a 4WD. Sometimes it can also be the only way to the supermarket, if you don't want to get stuck in the mud. â€‹

Coming to Cabuya

Coming here from San José with public buses is incredibly simple. There is a direct bus every day from Terminal 7/11 at 6.00 am. Be at the counter at 5.45 and get a ticket to Montezuma for 17$. The bus on the ferry, so you don't have to change it. If you chose to travel later, you will have to change buses, that's quite annoying. If you travel in your own car, better make an online reservation of the "Ferry Puntarenas - Paquera", especially when you travel on a Friday. The traveling time is around 4-5 hours.
